Brittany Barnhardt | Mayor

Brittany H. Barnhardt serves as Mayor of the Town of Granite Quarry and is committed to guiding the community through thoughtful growth, strong community engagement, and long-term planning. First elected in 2021, Mayor Barnhardt brings both professional experience and deep local ties to her leadership role.

A lifelong resident of Rowan County, Barnhardt has deep multi-generational ties to Granite Quarry and eastern Rowan County. She and her husband, Travis, chose to make Granite Quarry their home in 2016 because of its welcoming atmosphere, rich history, and strong sense of community. She values the town’s hometown character and the way residents support one another while continuing to invest in Granite Quarry’s future.

Professionally, Barnhardt is an entrepreneur and real estate investor whose background includes experience in business development, long-term planning, budgeting, infrastructure, and economic growth. These experiences have shaped her leadership style and continue to influence her focus on practical decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and strategic investments that benefit both current residents and future generations.

Mayor Barnhardt is actively involved in numerous local and regional organizations, including the North Carolina League of Municipalities, North Carolina Mayors Association, Rowan Municipal Association, Healthy Rowan, Rowan Helping Ministries, and the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees. She also works closely with local nonprofits, civic groups, and businesses throughout Rowan County.

As a mother of two sons, Wyatt and Easton, Barnhardt remains closely connected to local schools, youth sports, and family-centered community events. Supporting parks, recreation, and opportunities for children and families remains one of her key priorities as Mayor.

Motivated by a desire to help Granite Quarry continue moving forward while preserving its identity, Barnhardt ran for office to help guide the town’s future growth and development. Her priorities include revitalizing and modernizing Town Hall, improving Granite Civic Park and other public spaces, investing in infrastructure, supporting public safety, and encouraging economic development that strengthens the town’s tax base and supports long-term sustainability.

Outside of public service, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, supporting her children’s activities, participating in community events, and working on projects that help strengthen the community.

She believes Granite Quarry is more than simply a place to live- it is home. Through her service as Mayor, Barnhardt remains committed to preserving the town’s character while helping build a stronger future for generations to come.
