David H Earnhardt Jr
Officer of the Year Award

On October 25, 2024, Officer David “Davi” H Earnhardt Jr. (Granite Quarry-Faith Police Department Unit # 2213) lost his battle with cancer surrounded by his family, fellow officers, and friends. Officer Earnhardt was truly an integral part of our department and our community. He was the epitome of a public servant having served in several law enforcement positions, the Rowan County Rescue Squad, the Rockwell Rural Fire Department, and the Rowan County 911 Center where his voice was well known throughout Rowan County.

Officer Earnhardt served the Granite Quarry and Faith communities with pride, professionalism, and compassion. Rarely missing a day of work, he could often be found in various places throughout communities dealing with traffic enforcement. His work ethic was second to none and he strived to help others in need.

Officer Earnhardt had a very distinct laugh and I know that many truly miss him. In honor of his commitment, the Granite Quarry-Faith Police Department Officer of the Year Award was named in his honor and memory. The annual award is given to a sworn Law Enforcement with this agency who goes above and beyond their normal duties with dedication, calmness, fairness, and compassion along with demonstrating a willingness to help others in need.
