The NC Association of Rescue and EMS recognizes rescue companies at 3 levels. Those are light, medium, and heavy. These are all ranked in how much equipment the company carries on the apparatus. This medium rescue carries a wide variety of tools and equipment above that of a standard fire engine to assist in vehicle extraction, rope rescue, water rescue, trench rescue and confined space rescue. In addition to the equipment requirements, a department must have a minimum number of personnel that are technical rescue certified.
GQFD Station 57 used their reserve engine and obtained the needed equipment to meet the certification requirements and has double the minimum requirement of certified personnel. Many “rescue” trucks have no water on them and do not fight fire. GQFD Station 57 Rescue Engine has retained complete firefighting capabilities.
Kudos to our Fire Department for always striving to provide great service to our Town!
