The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a Rowan County road for a construction project starting next week.
From May 9-13, Heilig Road will be closed between Chamandy Drive and Faith Road to allow crews to safely install a left turn lane at the intersection of Heilig and Faith roads.
Traffic will follow a detour route using Old Concord Road, Jake Alexander Boulevard and Faith Road to return to Heilig Road.
The alternate dates for this job are May 16-20.
Motorists should use extra caution when approaching the work zone and plan accordingly for delays due to the detour.
